Narrative:

I was assigned a work card; to clean; preserve and grease the nose gear. It was covered with heavy old grease and was smearing. So then I used some aerosol degreaser to break it down for easier cleaning. An inspector witnessed me spraying the degreaser and told me that it was not allowed. He said he was writing up a non-routine and that it would require a cable change; since the cable was stainless steel and was inadvertently sprayed.
