Narrative:

Extensive taxiway reconstruction is actively underway at airport; with construction vehicles prevalent in and about txwys. Winds per the ATIS were 190 degrees at 5 KTS. Taxi clearance was to runway 4 at taxiway D. Uneventful run-up performed. I heard ground clear a C130 to runway 22. Tower then cleared me for takeoff on runway 4; with back-taxi authority/authorized on runway 22; as necessary. I read back the clearance; but I taxied into position and departed on runway 22. Fortunately; no other landing or departing traffic was in the area; and the wind was essentially calm. The controller noted the danger in the maneuver I had just completed. The tower's authority/authorized to back-taxi on runway 22 'as necessary' should have alerted me that they wanted me to take off on runway 4. The unusual construction activity on the txwys; and the clearance for the C130 to taxi to runway 22 led me to expect runway 22 rather than runway 4. This dangerous takeoff will lead me to be more alert for runway clrncs.

I READ BACK THE CLRNC; BUT I TAXIED INTO POS AND DEPARTED ON RWY 22. FORTUNATELY; NO OTHER LNDG OR DEPARTING TFC WAS IN THE AREA; AND THE WIND WAS ESSENTIALLY CALM. THE CTLR NOTED THE DANGER IN THE MANEUVER I HAD JUST COMPLETED. THE TWR'S AUTH TO BACK-TAXI ON RWY 22 'AS NECESSARY' SHOULD HAVE ALERTED ME THAT THEY WANTED ME TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 4. THE UNUSUAL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY ON THE TXWYS; AND THE CLRNC FOR THE C130 TO TAXI TO RWY 22 LED ME TO EXPECT RWY 22 RATHER THAN RWY 4. THIS DANGEROUS TKOF WILL LEAD ME TO BE MORE ALERT FOR RWY CLRNCS.
