Narrative:

Near top of climb; I missed several radio calls for frequency change while attending to heavy smoke in the cockpit. Further contact with ATC resulted in a barrage of adversarial anger and lengthy hatred filled dissertation; while all I needed was a new frequency. I recommended this controller be relieved of duty and counseled on safety; as he was worthless had we required an expedited return.
