Narrative:

Aircraft came in for an 'a' check; and while I was performing work card I discovered that #1 case drain differential pressure indicator was extended. I brought this to the attention of the lead in charge that night. He then showed me a letter from bombardier that stated I could change the filter and bleed the system and return the aircraft to service. I did the work in accordance with the letter and signed it off. I discovered that this was not the correct procedure. I was talking to another mechanic and he informed me that I had done the procedure incorrectly. I told him that I had done the work in accordance with bombardier letter. He then informed me that there is no such letter that allows us to deviation from the work card.
