Narrative:

Departed teb runway 24 on the teb 5 departure. The PF failed to level the aircraft at 1500 ft MSL; due to high rate of climb. The airplane was light and performance was high. I (PNF) called '1000 ft to go' at 500 ft MSL; '500 ft to go' at 1000 ft MSL and 'altitude' as plane ballooned past 1600 ft. ATC instructed us to maintain 1500 ft. The plane reached 1800 ft during leveling maneuver to 1500 ft. ATC the cleared aircraft to higher altitude. No RA or TA warnings occurred. No known conflicts; and no traffic observed. WX was VMC with good visibility.
