Narrative:

Approaching simba intersection; I requested the first officer to ask comrdo for 30 NM deviation to the west of course. Comrdo replied with unable; then we followed the waters airspace procedures to deviation around a line of thunderstorms that were well above us. We descended to FL347 and announced our intentions and position on 121.5. We also advised comrdo on 113.30 HF that we were deviating in accordance with a 'deviation required.' I advised comrdo that we were back on course and were able to meet the crossing restr at kraft. Then comrdo SELCAL'ed us and we were told to call ZNY as soon as possible after landing. I did call them and the supervisor told me that he was required to file a report.
