Narrative:

I was flying IFR in a C172 from I69-pwk. I was under the control of mdw approach control. I had noticed a tfr just south of pwk on my garmin 396. I inquired of mdw approach control and he stated that it wasn't active. I then checked with pwk ATIS and noted that they were VFR. I canceled IFR and proceeded to pwk under the ord class B airspace. Within a couple of mins; I noticed I was within 1 mi of wrigley field where an event was going on. I immediately turned away from the stadium. A few thoughts: 1) how is any pilot to know where all the stadiums are in the country? 2) how are they to know if there is an event going on? 3) why aren't there tfr's noted if we're not to fly near them?
