Narrative:

B733 was cleared for a visual approach to runway 1R to follow his company which was 9 mi southeast of the airport. At the time the B733 was cleared; his location was 15 mi southwest of the airport. The B733 was shipped to the tower at that time. The CRJ7 was 15 mi southeast of the airport still on the downwind; when I turned him on a right base to follow behind the B733 and issued the B733 traffic. The B733 proceeded to cross the final and continue nebound compromising separation. I immediately turned the CRJ7 to the south and the conflict alert activated. I punched into the tower and overheard them issue traffic and the B733 report traffic in sight.
