Narrative:
On may/mon/06; I was assigned to air carrier X for an engine starter generator erratic indication. I troubleshot the problem down to a possible alternator stator problem. I replaced and inspected the stator and had the engine runs performed. No defects were noted at that time per the manual. The manual did not state that a download was required for an event like this.

Title: A SAAB 340 ENG STARTER GENERATOR STATOR UNIT WAS REPLACED AND CHKED PER ENG RUN. TECHNICIAN DID NOT DOWNLOAD THE DIGITAL ENG CTL UNIT.
Narrative: ON MAY/MON/06; I WAS ASSIGNED TO ACR X FOR AN ENG STARTER GENERATOR ERRATIC INDICATION. I TROUBLESHOT THE PROB DOWN TO A POSSIBLE ALTERNATOR STATOR PROB. I REPLACED AND INSPECTED THE STATOR AND HAD THE ENG RUNS PERFORMED. NO DEFECTS WERE NOTED AT THAT TIME PER THE MANUAL. THE MANUAL DID NOT STATE THAT A DOWNLOAD WAS REQUIRED FOR AN EVENT LIKE THIS.
