Narrative:

Due to long taxi and takeoff delays; crew was distraction. When cleared to position and hold; aircraft behind us asked tower if we needed flaps for takeoff. Crew forgot to lower flaps for takeoff. Flaps lowered; all checklists completed and then we took off. Normal takeoff and climb out were observed. Supplemental information from acn 697472: how could 3 crew members with thousands of hours of experience overlook this critical part of the takeoff process?
