Narrative:

On apr/fri/06; I issued MEL 27-3 for a rudder trim indication fault. Finding no specific MEL reference for rudder trim indication; I believed this reference was correct; as this is a primary flight control; and it was an indication problem. I was told by the aircraft modification personnel that the preliminary discussions are that the rudder trim indication is not placardable. Air carrier will issue an MEL clarification to state that this MEL reference is for EICAS indication. I believe the MEL should have stated EICAS indications only.
