Narrative:
After landing on runway 28R at sfo we were told to hold short of runway 28L; which we did. We were then cleared to cross runway 28L and contact ground. Just as we started to roll; tower called and said 'give way to air carrier Y.' an airbus was on rollout on runway 28L and passed directly in front of us. We were not on the runway yet and it was not close at all; but it did make us wonder why we were cleared to cross. We quizzed each other as to whether we had been cleared to cross. I thought we had been and I know for a fact that I read back clearance to do so. As we were crossing runway 28L I asked tower whether or not we had been cleared to cross. Tower's response was 'it was ok.' I asked again for clarification and tower responded 'it was ok; there was no conflict.' in my opinion tower mistakenly cleared us to cross and did not want to discuss it or make an issue of it. We contacted ground and taxied to the gate uneventfully.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 28R AT SFO WE WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 28L; WHICH WE DID. WE WERE THEN CLRED TO CROSS RWY 28L AND CONTACT GND. JUST AS WE STARTED TO ROLL; TWR CALLED AND SAID 'GIVE WAY TO ACR Y.' AN AIRBUS WAS ON ROLLOUT ON RWY 28L AND PASSED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF US. WE WERE NOT ON THE RWY YET AND IT WAS NOT CLOSE AT ALL; BUT IT DID MAKE US WONDER WHY WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS. WE QUIZZED EACH OTHER AS TO WHETHER WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO CROSS. I THOUGHT WE HAD BEEN AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I READ BACK CLRNC TO DO SO. AS WE WERE XING RWY 28L I ASKED TWR WHETHER OR NOT WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO CROSS. TWR'S RESPONSE WAS 'IT WAS OK.' I ASKED AGAIN FOR CLARIFICATION AND TWR RESPONDED 'IT WAS OK; THERE WAS NO CONFLICT.' IN MY OPINION TWR MISTAKENLY CLRED US TO CROSS AND DID NOT WANT TO DISCUSS IT OR MAKE AN ISSUE OF IT. WE CONTACTED GND AND TAXIED TO THE GATE UNEVENTFULLY.
