Narrative:

Lga was alternating intersecting departures and arrs on runway 4 and runway 31 respectively. After holding in position for several mins; we were given an immediate takeoff clearance and started our takeoff roll within 6-8 seconds (normal engine spool-up time). At approximately 90-100 KTS; I heard the tower give a landing heavy jet go around instructions. I overhead the heavy acknowledge the go around; so I continued my takeoff. I observed the heavy approaching the intersecting runways approximately 200-250 ft above me. Had I not heard the heavy acknowledge the go around I would have aborted. It's my belief that the control tower; if not barely; averted an operational error.

I OBSERVED THE HVY APCHING THE INTERSECTING RWYS APPROX 200-250 FT ABOVE ME. HAD I NOT HEARD THE HVY ACKNOWLEDGE THE GAR I WOULD HAVE ABORTED. IT'S MY BELIEF THAT THE CTL TWR; IF NOT BARELY; AVERTED AN OPERROR.
