Narrative:

There is no WX available to the atl approach controllers providing service in the 'links' sector of operation. This area includes athens; gainesville; and greene county airports as well as many others in georgia. We provide approach; departure and en route services to aircraft at and below 10000 ft MSL within about 50 mi of athens airport. The FAA forced the atlanta TRACON to take the airspace in november 2005 with no WX display and it continues to this day. The radar that is used is the linkinton long range radar feed from the atlanta ARTCC. The lack of time critical WX information has the potential for significant impact on the flying public. This airspace is used daily by air taxies; who have scheduled operations at athens; GA; and many corporate; private; and military airplanes.
