Narrative:

Dfw soldo two departure improperly loaded into FMS bypassing vim and eld for soldo direct mei. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated he believes that he loaded the FMS route incorrectly. Coincidentally; the reporter was in the aircraft and on the ground during this callback. He simulated this event. After inputting departure airport; runway; SID and transition the reporter created a vector leg direct paxtin. The waypoints after soldo were retained unlike other events in which the waypoints dropped out. The reporter believes that a better pre departure clearance format more clearly specifying the route; ie soldo 2/mei.mei.xxxxx. The reporter's way of viewing the clearance; this method would more clearly tie the mei transition to the departure and then specify the first en route fix.

Title: AN MD80 CREW ON THE DFW SOLDO2.SOLDO WAS FLYING DIRECT MEI BECAUSE THE INTERVENING WAYPOINTS WERE NOT IN THE FMS FLT PLAN AFTER SOLDO.

Narrative: DFW SOLDO TWO DEP IMPROPERLY LOADED INTO FMS BYPASSING VIM AND ELD FOR SOLDO DIRECT MEI. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED HE BELIEVES THAT HE LOADED THE FMS RTE INCORRECTLY. COINCIDENTALLY; THE RPTR WAS IN THE ACFT AND ON THE GND DURING THIS CALLBACK. HE SIMULATED THIS EVENT. AFTER INPUTTING DEP ARPT; RWY; SID AND TRANSITION THE RPTR CREATED A VECTOR LEG DIRECT PAXTIN. THE WAYPOINTS AFTER SOLDO WERE RETAINED UNLIKE OTHER EVENTS IN WHICH THE WAYPOINTS DROPPED OUT. THE RPTR BELIEVES THAT A BETTER PDC FORMAT MORE CLRLY SPECIFYING THE RTE; IE SOLDO 2/MEI.MEI.XXXXX. THE RPTR'S WAY OF VIEWING THE CLRNC; THIS METHOD WOULD MORE CLRLY TIE THE MEI TRANSITION TO THE DEP AND THEN SPECIFY THE FIRST ENRTE FIX.
