Narrative:

While departing runway 7 with maximum power-improved performance and bleeds off we heard a pop during rotate followed by a series of pops during climb out. Idented compressor stalls on #2 engine. Power was reduced to 81% N1 to try to clear with no effect. Power was further reduced with no effect. Reports from tower of engine fire. Engine fire/severe damage checklist accomplished in full. Single engine landing checklist completed. Single engine landing completed uneventfully on runway 7. Aircraft returned to gate.
