Narrative:
Cleared FMS bridge visual to runway 28R at sfo. Supposed to cross san mateo bridge at 1800 ft. Had set 1040 in altitude window; intending to profile to MDA. As we were high during early part of approach; selected level change to get down. Did not catch error in neglecting to re-select 'profile' when back on profile. Went below crossing restr of 1800 ft at san mateo bridge. Realized situation at about 1200 ft MSL at same time norcal issued us a 'low altitude alert' warning and leveled off with intercepting GS to runway 28R probably 600 ft low at san mateo bridge.

Narrative: CLRED FMS BRIDGE VISUAL TO RWY 28R AT SFO. SUPPOSED TO CROSS SAN MATEO BRIDGE AT 1800 FT. HAD SET 1040 IN ALT WINDOW; INTENDING TO PROFILE TO MDA. AS WE WERE HIGH DURING EARLY PART OF APCH; SELECTED LEVEL CHANGE TO GET DOWN. DID NOT CATCH ERROR IN NEGLECTING TO RE-SELECT 'PROFILE' WHEN BACK ON PROFILE. WENT BELOW XING RESTR OF 1800 FT AT SAN MATEO BRIDGE. REALIZED SITUATION AT ABOUT 1200 FT MSL AT SAME TIME NORCAL ISSUED US A 'LOW ALT ALERT' WARNING AND LEVELED OFF WITH INTERCEPTING GS TO RWY 28R PROBABLY 600 FT LOW AT SAN MATEO BRIDGE.
