Narrative:

I was making a first solo cross country flight from napa airport. Before I called tower; I tried to find traffic on final. I could not find any traffic. I called tower; 'napa tower; aircraft X; runway 18L ready; request left crosswind departure with short delay on the runway; student pilot.' tower said 'aircraft X; napa tower hold short.' I replied 'hold short runway 18L; aircraft X.' I was misunderstanding this instruction as 'position and hold' to myself and checked traffic on final. I found one traffic on final; but I thought that traffic was for runway 18R. I continued taxi with watching that traffic. I have realized that traffic was for runway 18L and stopped immediately. That traffic said to tower; 'just confirming that a bonanza's not going onto runway 18L.
