Narrative:

During descent into pit; the prepare for landing announcement was given by the first officer. I was purser and made my announcement to the passenger. I then proceeded to check seatbelts; etc. I made it through the entire cabin to the back galley to receive the liquor papers and we landed at the same time as I got there which must have been about 30 seconds after the prepare announcement was made by the first officer. All 3 flight attendants were standing in the back. We were all shocked by the quick landing. The WX was extremely bad -- lightning; snow; thunder and rain. We hd all been seated for some time before landing due to the cockpit's instructions. None of us heard the gear come down or had any idea that we would be landing so suddenly. Our safety was jeopardized as well as the passenger because none of us were at our jumpseats if there had been an emergency evacuate/evacuation. I went back to my jumpseat and was seated for the remainder of the taxi. All members of the flight crew were staying together so we had an opportunity to ask about the late announcement from the first officer. He said he was putting his guitar away and forgot to give the announcement until too late.
