Narrative:

Checked in with departure and reported altitude. Controller reported a different altitude. Crew realized previous night arrival altimeter setting of 30.50 was set; rather than current of setting of 29.54. PF had completed all aircraft preflight checks and configuration; while PNF paid fuel bill and checked WX. PF had written down ATIS but both pilots failed to note altimeter. My biggest concern was my awareness of newark airport traffic; but fortunately for us we were low rather than high and in visual conditions.
