Narrative:

My shift starts at XA00 and ends at XJ30. Each day at the beginning of my shift; I check the maintenance request and confer with the line lead technician concerning the night's workload for the line avionics technician. There was a special request in the maintenance request to remove the clearance delivery player from aircraft (tail) for use on another aircraft. The special request stated that the clearance delivery player was to be turned in to the stores department. I complied with the special request at approximately (date). I found out today that our planning department issued the special request thinking that this aircraft was still in long-term storage. Therefore; I'm told that pulling that part out and not installing another; or deferring the system was an illegal operation.
