Narrative:
#2 c-duct opened for scheduled pre-cooler valve change. While allowing hot section to cool; I proceeded with rest of my scheduled maintenance. Approximately 2 hours after c-duct opening; I did an operational test of flaps on my own. Flaps were lowered into the opened c-duct causing damage.

Title: A B77-300 HAD #2 ENG INBOARD THRUST REVERSER FAN COWLING DAMAGED WHEN THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS WERE EXTENDED ON THE OPENED COWLING.
Narrative: #2 C-DUCT OPENED FOR SCHEDULED PRE-COOLER VALVE CHANGE. WHILE ALLOWING HOT SECTION TO COOL; I PROCEEDED WITH REST OF MY SCHEDULED MAINT. APPROX 2 HRS AFTER C-DUCT OPENING; I DID AN OPERATIONAL TEST OF FLAPS ON MY OWN. FLAPS WERE LOWERED INTO THE OPENED C-DUCT CAUSING DAMAGE.
