Sep/thu/05 at tact time 1045.3; aircraft total time of 1045.3. At smoh 458.4 completed 100 hour inspection. Svced with 10 quarts aeroshell 15-50; installed new CH48 oil filter. Compression test: #1 75/80; #3 78/80; #5 76/80; #2 78/80; #4 75/80; #6 75/80. Complied with all airworthiness directives to date. Engine run satisfactory; no leaks noted. Engine returned to service per 100 hour inspection. Owner took delivery of aircraft. Owner flew aircraft 11.3 hours with no leaks or discrepancies. Owner on oct/fri/05 less than 24 hours after aircraft was flown 11 hours; aircraft flew for 10 mins with engine failure and emergency landing on highway with no damage to aircraft and no injuries to pilot and passenger. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the airplane was not damaged in the off-field landing and no injuries were incurred. The engine failed due to loss of engine oil. The loss of the engine oil was caused by a cracked oil cooler. The airplane had 11.3 hours on the engine after the 100 hour inspection with a total time since engine overhaul of 469.7 hours.
