Narrative:
We departure runway 24 at teb via the teb 5 SID and climbed directly to 2000 ft. The SID limits altitude to 1500 ft until beyond teb DME 4.5 on a heading of 280 degrees. Prior to engine start I had briefed the first officer (also an experienced captain) on the ATC clearance and read to him the SID procedure. When I read the initial altitude limit; I said '2000 ft;' having visualized runway 1; even though in retrospect I remember seeing 1500 ft. We operate from teb regularly and each have done this SID from this wry hundreds of times. I did not see any traffic conflict on this departure; either visually or via TCAS. ATC noticed the excursion and chastised us accordingly. Contributing factors may have included a poor night's rest prior to this flight. This flight occurred at the end of several long range flts. In the preceding seven days; I had flown from iad to egll via airlines and then from eggw to rjaa; back to eggw and on to sfo followed by a sfo-hpn-teb day. At appropriate intervals we were given more than minimum rest.

Title: A G5 PLT DEPARTED TEB AND CLBED IMMEDIATELY TO 2000 FT WITHOUT WAITING UNTIL THE 4.5 DME. PLT ALSO RPTED FATIGUE AND CIRCADIAN RHYTHM PROB.

WE OPERATE FROM TEB REGULARLY AND EACH HAVE DONE THIS SID FROM THIS WRY HUNDREDS OF TIMES. I DID NOT SEE ANY TFC CONFLICT ON THIS DEP; EITHER VISUALLY OR VIA TCAS. ATC NOTICED THE EXCURSION AND CHASTISED US ACCORDINGLY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS MAY HAVE INCLUDED A POOR NIGHT'S REST PRIOR TO THIS FLT. THIS FLT OCCURRED AT THE END OF SEVERAL LONG RANGE FLTS. IN THE PRECEDING SEVEN DAYS; I HAD FLOWN FROM IAD TO EGLL VIA AIRLINES AND THEN FROM EGGW TO RJAA; BACK TO EGGW AND ON TO SFO FOLLOWED BY A SFO-HPN-TEB DAY.
