Narrative:

I mistakenly landed on taxiway left. Taxiway left is located between runways 9L and 9R. In error; I referred to publication '2005 florida airport directory' published by aviation office; department of transportation; tallahassee; fl; which shows the 2 runways as parallel with no taxiway in between them. I realize that I should have; and will in the future; refer to the AFD which has the accurate information. Regardless; I should have identified the runway by verifying the number when on final. I realize this was a serious mistake on my part; and could have resulted in grave consequences. The ATIS information now verbally warns against making this mistake. Although I realize there is no excuse for making that mistake; I wonder that if others have mistakenly landed on taxiway left; if some additional warning such as flashing red lights could be installed at the end of the taxiway as a warning to other pilots lining up on the taxiway to prevent a reoccurrence. Supplemental information from acn 669179: I was working as the controller in charge in the tower following a ground control operation that involved a B727 being pushed backwards from the customs ramp to the FBO ramp. This involved getting the aircraft around two military blackhawk helicopters parked on the FBO ramp. The local controller suddenly shouted that the arriving cessna on runway 9R actually landed on taxiway left. I turned to observe the aircraft rolling out on the taxiway. I alerted the watch supervisor on duty in the TRACON. At this time of the incident; the ATIS was broadcasting an alert to pilots about taxiway left and to be alert for runway markings. All required contacts were made from the radar room. It is my understanding that a similar incident occurred the previous day. To my knowledge; this is the fourth incident to occur since taxiway left opened last year. There have been many others that I am not aware of at this time.

Title: A PLT MISTAKENLY LANDS ON TXWY L AT PBI AND STATES THAT A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS THE USE OF A STATE GOV PUBLISHED AVIATION CHART THAT DOES NOT DEPICT A TXWY BETWEEN RWY 9L AND RWY 9R. ADDITIONAL CTLR RPT FOR THE SAME INCIDENT ALLEGES TXWY LNDGS HAVE OCCURRED SINCE ITS CONSTRUCTION IN 2004.

Narrative: I MISTAKENLY LANDED ON TXWY L. TXWY L IS LOCATED BETWEEN RWYS 9L AND 9R. IN ERROR; I REFERRED TO PUBLICATION '2005 FLORIDA ARPT DIRECTORY' PUBLISHED BY AVIATION OFFICE; DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION; TALLAHASSEE; FL; WHICH SHOWS THE 2 RWYS AS PARALLEL WITH NO TXWY IN BETWEEN THEM. I REALIZE THAT I SHOULD HAVE; AND WILL IN THE FUTURE; REFER TO THE AFD WHICH HAS THE ACCURATE INFO. REGARDLESS; I SHOULD HAVE IDENTIFIED THE RWY BY VERIFYING THE NUMBER WHEN ON FINAL. I REALIZE THIS WAS A SERIOUS MISTAKE ON MY PART; AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN GRAVE CONSEQUENCES. THE ATIS INFO NOW VERBALLY WARNS AGAINST MAKING THIS MISTAKE. ALTHOUGH I REALIZE THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR MAKING THAT MISTAKE; I WONDER THAT IF OTHERS HAVE MISTAKENLY LANDED ON TXWY L; IF SOME ADDITIONAL WARNING SUCH AS FLASHING RED LIGHTS COULD BE INSTALLED AT THE END OF THE TXWY AS A WARNING TO OTHER PLTS LINING UP ON THE TXWY TO PREVENT A REOCCURRENCE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 669179: I WAS WORKING AS THE CIC IN THE TWR FOLLOWING A GND CTL OP THAT INVOLVED A B727 BEING PUSHED BACKWARDS FROM THE CUSTOMS RAMP TO THE FBO RAMP. THIS INVOLVED GETTING THE ACFT AROUND TWO MIL BLACKHAWK HELIS PARKED ON THE FBO RAMP. THE LOCAL CTLR SUDDENLY SHOUTED THAT THE ARRIVING CESSNA ON RWY 9R ACTUALLY LANDED ON TXWY L. I TURNED TO OBSERVE THE ACFT ROLLING OUT ON THE TXWY. I ALERTED THE WATCH SUPVR ON DUTY IN THE TRACON. AT THIS TIME OF THE INCIDENT; THE ATIS WAS BROADCASTING AN ALERT TO PLTS ABOUT TXWY L AND TO BE ALERT FOR RWY MARKINGS. ALL REQUIRED CONTACTS WERE MADE FROM THE RADAR ROOM. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED THE PREVIOUS DAY. TO MY KNOWLEDGE; THIS IS THE FOURTH INCIDENT TO OCCUR SINCE TXWY L OPENED LAST YEAR. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHERS THAT I AM NOT AWARE OF AT THIS TIME.
