Narrative:
We found a broken tie bolt on #3 main wheel. Our company has outsourced the maintenance/rebuild of our wheel and tire assemblies. There has been a rash of these. I have seen more broken wheel tie bolts within the past yr than I have seen in the rest of my 16 yrs as an a&P at air carrier.

Title: A B757-200 TECHNICIAN RPTS FINDING A BROKEN TIE BOLT ON #3 WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY. RPTS A GREATER FREQUENCY OF TIE BOLT FAILURES SINCE OUTSOURCING TIRE BUILDUP.
Narrative: WE FOUND A BROKEN TIE BOLT ON #3 MAIN WHEEL. OUR COMPANY HAS OUTSOURCED THE MAINT/REBUILD OF OUR WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLIES. THERE HAS BEEN A RASH OF THESE. I HAVE SEEN MORE BROKEN WHEEL TIE BOLTS WITHIN THE PAST YR THAN I HAVE SEEN IN THE REST OF MY 16 YRS AS AN A&P AT ACR.
