Narrative:

Aircraft arrived with failed brake accumulator. Parts were sent from aircraft stores at company headquarters. Part arrived at approximately XA15 (late) and was installed on aircraft. Because of operating at a remote location; we did not have proper access to ipc manuals. When completing the paperwork at ZZZ; we noticed the part numbers were different. Since it is not uncommon to have more than one number for a part; we had no immediate concern. I arrived back at our normal operating station at approximately XB15. While entering the shipping information into our computer system; it was then I noticed the part numbers did not cross reference. I immediately called maintenance control to verify we had the right part installed. When maintenance control informed me it was not the right part; the aircraft had already departed ZZZ for ZZZ2. The aircraft was held in ZZZ2 until proper part could be installed.
