Unable to retract nose gear after takeoff. Recycled gear 1 time. No joy. Returned for landing. Landed overweight at 134000 pounds. Smooth landing. 200 FPM rate of descent. Taxied to gate. Aircraft OTS. Problem not associated with nose gear pin. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated this airplane has a maintenance history of nose gear retract problems; and on returning to the gate; maintenance had a tug ready to drag it off to the hangar. No maintenance report was received on the maintenance action taken and/or the components replaced.

CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THIS AIRPLANE HAS A MAINT HISTORY OF NOSE GEAR RETRACT PROBS; AND ON RETURNING TO THE GATE; MAINT HAD A TUG READY TO DRAG IT OFF TO THE HANGAR. NO MAINT RPT WAS RECEIVED ON THE MAINT ACTION TAKEN AND/OR THE COMPONENTS REPLACED.
