Narrative:

I; the captain; departed teb on a standard instrument departure. On my pre-departure briefing; I discussed with my copilot our altitude on the SID. He said it was 2000 ft. While on departure; I noticed that departure questioned our altitude and I immediately descended to 1500 ft as published on the SID. We both re-read the SID and realized that we had set the wrong altitude. I feel that flying at unfamiliar airports I will check and rechk and be absolutely sure that we are completing the flight as directed. We had very poor crew coordination and we will work harder to improve our performance.
