Narrative:

The issue is concerning a mural painted on a retaining wall at lex; ky. Over the last 2 weeks we have had at least 6 documented comments and/or complaints about this mural. They range from things such as 'nice distraction;' to 'an accident waiting to happen.' lex services air carrier and taxi as well as GA. The pilots report the mural as confusing and an impairment to depth perception. This mural is at the end of runway 22; which is the most used runway; with an ILS. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter indicates the subject mural is at the end of a frequently used runway on a retaining wall and has prompted a number of concerns expressed by pilots especially those unfamiliar with the airport. The mural is reportedly very 'lifelike' presenting an illusion and distraction. The reporter said that one pilot stated that the mural affected his/her depth perception. The reporter indicated that a number of taped comments by flight crews have been forwarded to the airport operator; but to no avail. The reporter stated that in his/her opinion the mural is an 'accident waiting to happen.'

Narrative: THE ISSUE IS CONCERNING A MURAL PAINTED ON A RETAINING WALL AT LEX; KY. OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS WE HAVE HAD AT LEAST 6 DOCUMENTED COMMENTS AND/OR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MURAL. THEY RANGE FROM THINGS SUCH AS 'NICE DISTRACTION;' TO 'AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.' LEX SERVICES ACR AND TAXI AS WELL AS GA. THE PLTS RPT THE MURAL AS CONFUSING AND AN IMPAIRMENT TO DEPTH PERCEPTION. THIS MURAL IS AT THE END OF RWY 22; WHICH IS THE MOST USED RWY; WITH AN ILS.
