Narrative:

Reference log #X srm allowable damage page note states '2.0 maximum diameter allowed for single damage site' see detail X for damage criteria. Detail X notes that a damage site is any single area of a panel where a crack exists. I feel the damage falls into these limitations and the aircraft was airworthy per the srm reference. During re-inspection by the original inspector, it was determined the crack exceeded the limits and required more frequent inspection and repair. Technician filed report after becoming aware of the new assessment.

Title: A B767-400 WING LEADING EDGE SKIN PANEL DAMAGE WAS INSPECTED AND WAS FOUND WITHIN LIMITS OF THE SRM. A LATER INSPECTION FOUND THE CRACK OUT OF LIMITS.

Narrative: REF LOG #X SRM ALLOWABLE DAMAGE PAGE NOTE STATES '2.0 MAX DIAMETER ALLOWED FOR SINGLE DAMAGE SITE' SEE DETAIL X FOR DAMAGE CRITERIA. DETAIL X NOTES THAT A DAMAGE SITE IS ANY SINGLE AREA OF A PANEL WHERE A CRACK EXISTS. I FEEL THE DAMAGE FALLS INTO THESE LIMITATIONS AND THE ACFT WAS AIRWORTHY PER THE SRM REF. DURING RE-INSPECTION BY THE ORIGINAL INSPECTOR, IT WAS DETERMINED THE CRACK EXCEEDED THE LIMITS AND REQUIRED MORE FREQUENT INSPECTION AND REPAIR. TECHNICIAN FILED RPT AFTER BECOMING AWARE OF THE NEW ASSESSMENT.
