Narrative:

Aircraft was hot air balloon landing in vicinity of several large ranches and farms. Landing and approach normal. Closest structure was at least 500 ft away. At landing; permission was received by landowner. After packing up balloon; went up to talk and give additional thanks to landowner who had gone to small barn. Discovered that a mare with foal was in barn and had become excited and had a laceration over eye. Later discovered required 12 stitches. Owners say probably no lasting harm to horse. In future; always be aware that small structure in a ranch setting may contain livestock and always give as much distance as possible to avoid exciting animals.
