Narrative:

I loaded the plane and did a complete preflight. I lifted off at about XA45. The liftoff and in fact the entire trip went extremely well even with the headwinds it was computing out to be 3 hours. The approach to landing was absolutely normal but increasing wind gusts as I proceeded to short final. As I touched the mains down; there was a strong gust that ballooned me back into the air and when the nosewheel touched down on the second landing it folded and the plane nosed forward onto the propeller; all 3 blade tips were bent back and the plane came to rest on its front cowling. I turned all the electrics off and exited safely. The fire and removal squads were called and the aircraft was safely placed in my hangar. On reflection; I am sure that the gear retract in the morning was a clean one (no odd noises nor any discrepancies regarding the gear lights). I am just as sure that there were no indicated anomalies as I lowered the gear for the landing at mtn. I met with the FAA aviation safety inspection assigned to the case. Openly discussed the fact that he had a number of other mooney incidents under investigation. He said that in each case he is focusing on the failure of the nose gear trunnion. Further he said that the FAA investigation had uncovered a situation that occurred in the late 1990's where damaged trunnions were inadequately repaired but then well repainted; tagged as new and introduced into the distribution channel to repair shops.

Title: A MOONEY M20M NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED ON LNDG FOLLOWING WHAT APPEARED TO BE A NORMAL FLT AND LNDG.

Narrative: I LOADED THE PLANE AND DID A COMPLETE PREFLT. I LIFTED OFF AT ABOUT XA45. I TURNED ALL THE ELECTRICS OFF AND EXITED SAFELY. THE FIRE AND REMOVAL SQUADS WERE CALLED AND THE ACFT WAS SAFELY PLACED IN MY HANGAR.
