Narrative:

In cruise at FL330 near ZZZ; the left engine low oil pressure light illuminated. The oil temperature was normal; but the oil quantity had fallen to zero. I declared an emergency; completed the associated checklists; during which I shut the left engine down; and diverted into ZZZ. The landing was overweight (133600 pounds); but very smooth. I stopped on the runway and had the emergency crews evaluate the aircraft. The only anomaly was oil leaking from the left cowling; then taxied to the gate. It was determined by contract maintenance that the oil reservoir (tank) had cracked at a weld.
