Narrative:

Called for 'gear down; landing checklist.' gear extended with no indication of nose gear safe light; nose door open light on. Crew executed go around. Received vectors away from ZZZ to run all appropriate checklists and to try to solicit some technical help with sat phone. With no change in condition; we declared an emergency and requested assistance during landing. Briefed flight attendant and passenger of situation and secured cabin for arrival. We loitered for a while to reduce fuel load in the aircraft. We requested an approach to ZZZ's longest runway and confirmed that emergency crews were standing by. Landing was smooth and normal. Aircraft was shut down on the runway with APU running. Passenger were offloaded and sent on their way. Aircraft was towed to hangar.
