Narrative:

I have become aware of a problem with the signoff on the installation of the stabilizer trim motor on aircraft X. I accomplished the removal and installation of a borrowed act. I accomplished an operations check per maintenance manual and short signature on the paperwork. Since I am not lower minimum performance [autoland] qualified to do a lower minimum performance signoff, I turned it over to a lower minimum performance mechanic. I was told today it needs an rii. Supplemental information from acn 637184: I was performing functional checks and was not aware that the stabilizer trim motor was considered rii. This motor has dual functions as an autoplt actuator and as a trim motor. The maintenance manual refers to this component as a motor, not an actuator. In the gpm it is unclr if this should be rii'ed because of the note in the flight control section.

Title: A B737-800 AUTOPLT STABILIZER ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED AND CHKED PER THE MAINT MANUAL BUT DID NOT HAVE THE FAA REQUIRED INSPECTION.

Narrative: I HAVE BECOME AWARE OF A PROB WITH THE SIGNOFF ON THE INSTALLATION OF THE STABILIZER TRIM MOTOR ON ACFT X. I ACCOMPLISHED THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF A BORROWED ACT. I ACCOMPLISHED AN OPS CHK PER MAINT MANUAL AND SHORT SIGNATURE ON THE PAPERWORK. SINCE I AM NOT LOWER MINIMUM PERFORMANCE [AUTOLAND] QUALIFIED TO DO A LOWER MINIMUM PERFORMANCE SIGNOFF, I TURNED IT OVER TO A LOWER MINIMUM PERFORMANCE MECH. I WAS TOLD TODAY IT NEEDS AN RII. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 637184: I WAS PERFORMING FUNCTIONAL CHKS AND WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE STABILIZER TRIM MOTOR WAS CONSIDERED RII. THIS MOTOR HAS DUAL FUNCTIONS AS AN AUTOPLT ACTUATOR AND AS A TRIM MOTOR. THE MAINT MANUAL REFERS TO THIS COMPONENT AS A MOTOR, NOT AN ACTUATOR. IN THE GPM IT IS UNCLR IF THIS SHOULD BE RII'ED BECAUSE OF THE NOTE IN THE FLT CTL SECTION.
