Narrative:

During climb out of ZZZ2 at approximately FL240, one pop sound was heard along with an immediate aircraft yaw. Engine #4 EPR went blank and #4 egt was 630+ and increasing. #4 throttle was brought back to idle with still increasing egt now in red. Qrc for engine damage accomplished. Advised ATC of engine failure, requested lower altitude, a return to ZZZ2 and declared emergency with emergency equipment to stand by on landing. Advised flight attendant of situation and briefed for cabin advisory, landing time 25 mins. Advised dispatch of situation and return to ZZZ2. Advised ATC of need to dump fuel and received clearance to hold to dump fuel. Started dumping at XA35Z and ended dumping at XA55Z. Dumped approximately 49000 pounds fuel. Flew runway 34L ILS ach and landed at approximately 627000 pounds. Approach and landing normal with minimal use of brakes. Maintenance inspection found compressor section blade damage.
