Narrative:

On an IFR flight plan from prc to 48V in a king air C90. Den approach cleared us for a visual approach to erie (48V). With only 7.2 mi from jeffco to erie, we probably penetrated the jeffco class D airspace during our descent into erie. Approach did not tell us to maintain a certain altitude until clear of jeffco class D airspace. Approach should have given us vectors to a position from which a 'normal' visual approach would not penetrate airspace they were not in control of. Instead, they vectored us directly over bjc and then cleared us for the visual. The only way to get down without violating bjc class D would have been to overfly 48V and then let down and return to the pattern.

Title: BE9L PLT IFR ON A VECTOR FOR A VISUAL APCH TO 48V ARPT ARE CONCERNED THEY MAY HAVE PENETRATED BJC CLASS D AIRSPACE.

Narrative: ON AN IFR FLT PLAN FROM PRC TO 48V IN A KING AIR C90. DEN APCH CLRED US FOR A VISUAL APCH TO ERIE (48V). WITH ONLY 7.2 MI FROM JEFFCO TO ERIE, WE PROBABLY PENETRATED THE JEFFCO CLASS D AIRSPACE DURING OUR DSCNT INTO ERIE. APCH DID NOT TELL US TO MAINTAIN A CERTAIN ALT UNTIL CLR OF JEFFCO CLASS D AIRSPACE. APCH SHOULD HAVE GIVEN US VECTORS TO A POS FROM WHICH A 'NORMAL' VISUAL APCH WOULD NOT PENETRATE AIRSPACE THEY WERE NOT IN CTL OF. INSTEAD, THEY VECTORED US DIRECTLY OVER BJC AND THEN CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL. THE ONLY WAY TO GET DOWN WITHOUT VIOLATING BJC CLASS D WOULD HAVE BEEN TO OVERFLY 48V AND THEN LET DOWN AND RETURN TO THE PATTERN.
