Narrative:

Departing charlotte for sarasota we were given the panther 6 departure (no specific runway) taylor transition. We briefed the departure prior to executing the FMS (selecting runway 36L) talked about how we would identify the 2.5 DME for the turn and altitude, first fix, transition, etc. We briefed the approach again during before start and again for the taxi checklists. We briefed the departure for runway 36L 3 times. When changing from ramp to ground, we were given, 'air carrier X ground, taxi via txwys G, C.' I was confused on the taxi instructions but I saw taxiway G then taxiway C then the runway. We went to runway 36R but still had the departure for runway 36L setup. We were cleared for departure and at 2.5 DME made a left turn to 330 degrees. We were given an immediate right turn 050 degrees and then a phone number. In sarasota we called and he explained that we were within 400 ft or an aircraft departing on the parallel. We never changed our mindset from runway 36L to runway 36R departure procedures mandated by the panther 6 departure.
