Narrative:
On oct/fri/04 at XA10, I was working on aircraft accessing areas in the main east&east bay for the ACARS modification. I removed the E3-5 moisture shroud (ipc reference 25-51-00-20) to access the E3-2 disconnect bracket. Many -300/-500 aircraft do not even have the shroud installed when the aircraft arrives. I filled out a yellow tag parts bag, placed hardware in bag and attached bag to shroud and placed shroud on east&east bay removed rack. In the ACARS paperwork for a -700 aircraft it says to access as necessary to install wires. The -300/-500 paperwork does not state this. The aircraft departed on oct/tue/04 without the E3-5 moisture shroud being reinstalled. My failure to generate a non routine technical write-up for parts removed in aircraft engineering modification is to blame for this event.
