Narrative:

Tower cleared us for takeoff and assigned heading 095 degrees after takeoff. This turn and heading took us directly over the front range airport. After we were established on the 095 degree heading, tower advised 'numerous VFR aircraft in vicinity of front range airport, contact departure control.' we then received a 'traffic' TCASII advisory. Nothing happened as we accelerated our climb and departed normally, but this type of clearance has the potential for disaster written all over it. If the tower needs us on an easterly heading, we should depart runway 8 or in the absence of that ability we should be taken south of the front range traffic pattern before the turn is commenced. If we had lost an engine and needed to level off to accelerate or someone at front range was not paying attention, there could have been sheet metal scattered across a lot of acreage.

Title: A320 DEP FROM RWY 17L AT DEN EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING TWR INITIAL HDG ASSIGNMENT AND THE POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH FTG TFC.

Narrative: TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF AND ASSIGNED HDG 095 DEGS AFTER TKOF. THIS TURN AND HDG TOOK US DIRECTLY OVER THE FRONT RANGE ARPT. AFTER WE WERE ESTABLISHED ON THE 095 DEG HDG, TWR ADVISED 'NUMEROUS VFR ACFT IN VICINITY OF FRONT RANGE ARPT, CONTACT DEP CTL.' WE THEN RECEIVED A 'TFC' TCASII ADVISORY. NOTHING HAPPENED AS WE ACCELERATED OUR CLB AND DEPARTED NORMALLY, BUT THIS TYPE OF CLRNC HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR DISASTER WRITTEN ALL OVER IT. IF THE TWR NEEDS US ON AN EASTERLY HDG, WE SHOULD DEPART RWY 8 OR IN THE ABSENCE OF THAT ABILITY WE SHOULD BE TAKEN S OF THE FRONT RANGE TFC PATTERN BEFORE THE TURN IS COMMENCED. IF WE HAD LOST AN ENG AND NEEDED TO LEVEL OFF TO ACCELERATE OR SOMEONE AT FRONT RANGE WAS NOT PAYING ATTN, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SHEET METAL SCATTERED ACROSS A LOT OF ACREAGE.
