Narrative:

During engine start on first flight of the day, first officer and I noticed that the oil filter by-pass light was flickering during and after start. After approximately 2 mins the light stayed out. The engine was running for about 8-9 mins before we took runway for takeoff. The temperature was 20 degrees C (70 degrees F). It was the first officer's leg. Power was added and takeoff roll begun. Everything was normal until just prior to 80 KIAS when first officer pointed to the oil filter by-pass light which was illuminated. I aborted the takeoff. We notified tower and cleared runway. We contacted maintenance and explained the situation. By this time light was out again. We coordinated with maintenance and did an engine run-up. All indications were normal and the light remained out. We decided to continue the flight after sending an information-only message to maintenance. They concurred. Everything went normally after that.
