Narrative:

Landed on 30 ft wide, 4000 ft paved private runway with permission. Busy traffic. Turned onto grass to taxi back and nosewheel went into hidden 3 ft X 3 ft culvert causing propeller to strike ground. I was told by residents who lived there and had hangars along the runways that this has happened many times before due to unacceptable hidden hazards and poor maintenance by the owners. Culvert should be filled! And any other maintenance done. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter advised the drainage ditch is approximately 40 ft north of the paved runway (he believes the runway is 07/25) and is obscured with untended grass. He further stated the incident resulted in a sudden engine stoppage and the engine was in the process of being overhauled. He also pointed out that there are some commercial operations at the end of the field.
