Narrative:

Clearance read mlc J105-J78.pxv. Looking at the hi-5 chart, J105 extended out of rzc at 025 degrees. Both captain and first officer looked at chart and read J105 out of rzc as 043 degree radial. When you look at rzc, it appears J105 extends out the 043 degree radial because along the airway there exists no black box redesignating the airway. It appears J105 extends out the 043 degree radial. Usually at a fix if an airway changes, there is a black box with the airway written in it. At rzc, there is no box because this is not an airway, but a route connecting 2 fixes. A very confusion point.

USUALLY AT A FIX IF AN AIRWAY CHANGES, THERE IS A BLACK BOX WITH THE AIRWAY WRITTEN IN IT. AT RZC, THERE IS NO BOX BECAUSE THIS IS NOT AN AIRWAY, BUT A RTE CONNECTING 2 FIXES. A VERY CONFUSION POINT.
