Narrative:

Aircraft XXX is among many of the B737-900's, and a few B737-800's, where the altitude alerter and radio altimeter callouts sound through the pilot's headset, as well as the aircraft's overhead speakers. This is a hazardous condition, because of the volume level of the alerts, and the possibility of blocking out ATC instructions, particularly during final approach, when the tower could possibly order the flight to go around while '50-30-20-10' is going on. I really feel that we need to disable this function, for enhanced safety of flight.
