Narrative:

Arriving at the ZZZ air show, we were directed into the base leg portion of the pattern by the temporary tower being used at the time. We were cleared to land as 'flight X.' all the time in the pattern we kept hearing reference to 3 cherokees. We could tell there was one in front of us, but could not get a visual on anything behind us. Our concern prompted us to ask again if we were cleared to land. (We also indicated we were the aircraft with the strobing landing light) the temporary tower confirmed we were cleared to land. Just after touching down, another cherokee flew directly over us, and landed 100-150 ft ahead of us. We cleared the runway as NOTAMS suggested and contacted ground. They directed us to a crossing point of the active runway and instructed us to hold short of the active runway, which we did. Once finally cleared to cross we looked to our right only to find an aircraft on takeoff roll approximately 2000-2500 ft down the runway! We advised we would continue to hold short and wait. After a short time, we were cleared across. The major factors contributing to this were: 1) high volume of traffic arriving at the air show. 2) frequency congestion. 3) temporary tower personnel (experience?) 4) mix of high time/low time pilots. 5) 'north' numbers not used in xmissions. Possible corrective actions: 1) reservations for arrs. 2) use of 'north' numbers in xmnissions (idents). 3) don't allow 'fly-bys' during arrival hours. Adds to frequency congestion. 4) advise aircraft/sits such as these out of the pattern, or go around!

Title: A COUPLE OF GND CONFLICTS WHILE LNDG AND TAXIING CAUSE SOME REFLECTIONS BY A PA28 ATP PLT ON THE OP AT AN AIR SHOW WITH A PART TIME ATCT.

Narrative: ARRIVING AT THE ZZZ AIR SHOW, WE WERE DIRECTED INTO THE BASE LEG PORTION OF THE PATTERN BY THE TEMPORARY TWR BEING USED AT THE TIME. WE WERE CLRED TO LAND AS 'FLT X.' ALL THE TIME IN THE PATTERN WE KEPT HEARING REF TO 3 CHEROKEES. WE COULD TELL THERE WAS ONE IN FRONT OF US, BUT COULD NOT GET A VISUAL ON ANYTHING BEHIND US. OUR CONCERN PROMPTED US TO ASK AGAIN IF WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. (WE ALSO INDICATED WE WERE THE ACFT WITH THE STROBING LNDG LIGHT) THE TEMPORARY TWR CONFIRMED WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. JUST AFTER TOUCHING DOWN, ANOTHER CHEROKEE FLEW DIRECTLY OVER US, AND LANDED 100-150 FT AHEAD OF US. WE CLRED THE RWY AS NOTAMS SUGGESTED AND CONTACTED GND. THEY DIRECTED US TO A XING POINT OF THE ACTIVE RWY AND INSTRUCTED US TO HOLD SHORT OF THE ACTIVE RWY, WHICH WE DID. ONCE FINALLY CLRED TO CROSS WE LOOKED TO OUR R ONLY TO FIND AN ACFT ON TKOF ROLL APPROX 2000-2500 FT DOWN THE RWY! WE ADVISED WE WOULD CONTINUE TO HOLD SHORT AND WAIT. AFTER A SHORT TIME, WE WERE CLRED ACROSS. THE MAJOR FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THIS WERE: 1) HIGH VOLUME OF TFC ARRIVING AT THE AIR SHOW. 2) FREQ CONGESTION. 3) TEMPORARY TWR PERSONNEL (EXPERIENCE?) 4) MIX OF HIGH TIME/LOW TIME PLTS. 5) 'N' NUMBERS NOT USED IN XMISSIONS. POSSIBLE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: 1) RESERVATIONS FOR ARRS. 2) USE OF 'N' NUMBERS IN XMNISSIONS (IDENTS). 3) DON'T ALLOW 'FLY-BYS' DURING ARR HRS. ADDS TO FREQ CONGESTION. 4) ADVISE ACFT/SITS SUCH AS THESE OUT OF THE PATTERN, OR GO AROUND!
