Narrative:

Landing on runway 10L at pit, heard loud 'bang' as soon as touchdown occurred. Spoilers and reversers used normally. Autobrake was on MEL so I initiated braking. Aircraft started to drift right and left rudder, maximum left reverse could not stop drift. First officer got on brakes with me but drift could not be stopped. Aircraft rolled off paved surface nose gear and right main in the grass. Postflt revealed bird debris in nose gear with steering cable snapped. Fire crew responded and passenger deplaned left aft door down airstairs onto bus. No injuries to any passenger or crew. WX was overcast, visibility 8 mi, rain, wind 180 degrees at 5 KTS. Bird was found at approach end of runway.
