Narrative:

Aircraft #1 departed tpa at XA45 and was assigned 12000 ft and vectored northbound. Aircraft #1 climbed through assigned altitude to 13700 ft. Coordination was affected to ZJX and ZMA. This occurred at 2 mi north of pie VOR. Supplemental information from acn 620986: the captain was at the controls while I assumed PNF duties. During the climb out, approximately 15 NM northwest of the airport during a climb to an assigned altitude of 12000 ft, the power was suddenly reduced as I discovered that we were at an altitude of 12900 ft. The climb was immediately stopped and we began a descent. Within seconds, ATC advised us as well about our error. There was no conflict with other known traffic.
