Narrative:

After takeoff at 5000 ft, notified by flight attendants of strong overheating electrical or burning plastic odor starting in first class and spreading to main cabin. Notified ATC and returned to jfk landing on runway 4L within 15 mins. Odor seemed to dissipate after touchdown, so continued to gate for maintenance inspection. Aircraft taken OTS and crew rescheduled.
