Narrative:

On descent into cmh, I was being vectored for a visual approach to runway 28L. Due to the haze, some aircraft were flying the ILS to runway 28R or the GPS to runway 28L due to the ILS being OTS to runway 28L. The approach controller vectored me behind a king air on the GPS approach to runway 28L. I reported the airport in sight and the controller vectored me a little further out for spacing behind the king air. A few mins later, the controller called the king air at my 12 O'clock position and 3 mi. I stated that I was looking for the traffic, and then the controller asked my airspeed. I told him I was doing 165 KTS. The controller instructed me to slow to 150 KTS and that I was cleared for the visual approach to runway 28L behind the king air, to remain south of the final for runway 28R. As I continued toward the airport, I continued to scan for the king air while I configured the aircraft for the landing. As I was occupied with this, I allowed the aircraft to drift to the north into the final for runway 28R. The controller again reminded me to stay south of the final for runway 28R. I immediately began a turn toward the south to line up with runway 28L. Approach was continued to an uneventful landing. This situation developed due to my inattn to my aircraft's flight path while I was preoccupied with looking for the traffic and configuring the aircraft for the landing. In the future, I will pay more attention to my aircraft's flight path and pay more attention to dividing my attention.

Title: BE58 LNDG RWY 28L AT CMH, FOCUSED ON LOCATING TFC, DRIFTED FROM THE INBOUND TRACK CLRNC RESTR.

Narrative: ON DSCNT INTO CMH, I WAS BEING VECTORED FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 28L. DUE TO THE HAZE, SOME ACFT WERE FLYING THE ILS TO RWY 28R OR THE GPS TO RWY 28L DUE TO THE ILS BEING OTS TO RWY 28L. THE APCH CTLR VECTORED ME BEHIND A KING AIR ON THE GPS APCH TO RWY 28L. I RPTED THE ARPT IN SIGHT AND THE CTLR VECTORED ME A LITTLE FURTHER OUT FOR SPACING BEHIND THE KING AIR. A FEW MINS LATER, THE CTLR CALLED THE KING AIR AT MY 12 O'CLOCK POS AND 3 MI. I STATED THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR THE TFC, AND THEN THE CTLR ASKED MY AIRSPD. I TOLD HIM I WAS DOING 165 KTS. THE CTLR INSTRUCTED ME TO SLOW TO 150 KTS AND THAT I WAS CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 28L BEHIND THE KING AIR, TO REMAIN S OF THE FINAL FOR RWY 28R. AS I CONTINUED TOWARD THE ARPT, I CONTINUED TO SCAN FOR THE KING AIR WHILE I CONFIGURED THE ACFT FOR THE LNDG. AS I WAS OCCUPIED WITH THIS, I ALLOWED THE ACFT TO DRIFT TO THE N INTO THE FINAL FOR RWY 28R. THE CTLR AGAIN REMINDED ME TO STAY S OF THE FINAL FOR RWY 28R. I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN A TURN TOWARD THE S TO LINE UP WITH RWY 28L. APCH WAS CONTINUED TO AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. THIS SIT DEVELOPED DUE TO MY INATTN TO MY ACFT'S FLT PATH WHILE I WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH LOOKING FOR THE TFC AND CONFIGURING THE ACFT FOR THE LNDG. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL PAY MORE ATTN TO MY ACFT'S FLT PATH AND PAY MORE ATTN TO DIVIDING MY ATTN.
